Artists Clare Qualmann and Claire Hind brought their walkin based art practices to KCAI for a multidisciplinary spring workshop. Students in Jordan Stempleman’s Long Poem class wrote various walking prompts intended to awaken the mind through walking, then passed to the graphic design department to be turned physical.
I designed a small accordion fold walking score that fits into a metal slide-top container the size of a lip balm tin. There is something childlike about sliding open the box and having a spring of paper leap out, making walking exciting and thought-provoking again.
